Marginally Magical has a variety of editing services available to authors. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out!



TIMELINE:

We will discuss a turnaround time based upon your manuscript and what services you require. Email reminders will be sent detailing when work is set to begin.

◉ EDITING:

Each editing project I take on includes suggestions and corrections using Microsoft Word and track changes. If you use Pages, I can make accommodations for Macintosh iWork documents. It will be your responsibility to communicate this preference and ensure you have the appropriate software to view changes made.

◉ COMMUNICATION:

You can reach me in our established email communication thread, or I am reachable via certain chat applications. Contact must be initiated through email before other channels become available. Calls and video discussions must be scheduled 72 hours in advance.

◉ LANGUAGE & STYLE:

I am a native Amerian English Speaker, and also profiscient in British English, Canadian English, and Austrailian English. I use style rules set forth by The Chicago Manual of Style.

◉ CONFIDENTIALITY:

All of your information–any personal information or information regarding your book including, but not limited to, title, release date, book cover, content–will remain strictly confidential. This information is only used for editing services and payment. Your contact information will never be used for any other purpose.

◉ RESOURCES:

I maintain a paid subscription to Oxford English Dictionary and Merriam-Webster Online. I also cross-reference using Garner’s Modern English Usage.

◉ CONTRACT:

To ensure peace of mind, all editing projects are booked with a contract signed by both parties outlining the terms of our business relationship. All contracts will be accompanied by a project invoice including a payment outline with expected deliverables and booking fee.

◉ SAMPLE:

To give you the peace of mind that you deserve, you can request a free 2 page sample edit to see what my editing and communication style is like. This sample will include track changes and an editorial email.

◉ EXPERIENCE:

I attended Albertson College of Idaho for English Literature and Cello Performance, am currently pursuing a Certificate of Editing from the Grahamn School at the University of Chicago, and have more than 6 years industry experience in marketing, copywriting, and copyediting. I am a member of several professional organizations and am an active member of the editing community.

◉ DEPOSIT:

A 20% non-refundable deposit will be due upon booking of a project. If you have need of rush services, please contact me to inquire about scheduling and if that is currently an available option. Rushed services will incur an additional 30% fee.
